“but my heart cried out for you
you’re in my heart, you’re in my soul
you’ll be my breath should i grow old
you are my lover, you’re my best friend
you’re in my soul” — rod stewart “you’re in my heart”

woot!  friday!  and weekend!  :)  i’m beyond ready to lie around a little bit (and finally get back to a gym now that i am feeling a little better).   but first, today.  today went well.

so there was work.  the morning started with me being on a roll all productive and everything.  and then i found myself in the conference room with a bunch of other people helping to decorate the company christmas tree.  and it was pretty much downhill from there. :)  but it was rainy and gloomy and a perfect day to be lying on the couch in pajamas or napping, not at work.  by the way, what’s with the rain?!?  it’s been raining like crazy for like the last 20 hours.  last night they told me i might get 1/10″ and it was a 30% chance i’d get any rain at all.  wrong.  so anyway, i might have been a little bit lazy around the office this afternoon. ;)

and after work, the rain had let up a little (just momentarily, i assure you), so i ran an errand.  i went to costco for my fresh christmas wreath that is now over my fireplace and making my apartment smell like christmas.  yay!  i am not getting a tree this year because i’m headed home to san carlos 4 days before christmas and would have to throw it all away before that.  anyway, at least it smells good in here.

and i spent the rest of the evening catching up on things on my dvr from the past week.  tv junkie, i know.  but seriously, i was never going to go out in the rain if i didn’t have a good reason.  :)

and i think that’s it from here tonight.  g’night. ;)

“but i still feel the feeling
of how you telephoned me
and it may be no big deal to you
but it’s a very big deal to me” — lyle lovett and his large band “no big deal”

well, the week’s coming to a close, and i’m so excited about truly getting some rest this weekend.  nothing’s planned.  that’s exciting.  but first, i have to finish the rest of the week out, and that meant doing today.  and actually, i feel pretty good about today. :)

first off, i had to go to work.  i stopped for a bagel first.  i am completely, totally addicted to i <3 bagels.  seriously.  it’s bad.  they’re so amazingly delicious, though!  anyway, and then i went to work and spent most of the day working on the company holiday card.  it turned out wonderfully, if i do say so, and i managed to cut the cost a disgusting amount from last year.  seriously a lot.  it prompted a “you should be in charge of all art department projects” from marke.  :)  so yay!

and after work, i might have gone to best buy.  i was after the lyle lovett album with this song.  i haven’t stopped thinking about it since i heard it on “brothers and sisters.”  anyway, they changed the cd racks there, and the new ones are terrible!  they’re basically unusable.  they are very horizontal in nature and yet the cds are ordered on them vertically, which is annoying.  and they have these huge flaps that hang down from the bottom of each row with totally useless ads on them.  they’re in the way of seeing the row below, so you have to hold them up.  and the racks go all the way down to the floor, meaning the cds down there are truly impossible to see.  it’s just bad.  and if you now think i’m totally insane for even noticing the racks… well… you might be right.  but!  it’s a mui (say it like mooey; stands for mechanical user interface; is an acronym brian and i conveniently made up earlier today) problem.

anyway… then i went home and did a bunch of work for bobby, talked to the parents, and planned a st. charles reunion for christmastime.  and watched last night’s “project runway.”  so i’ve been really busy.  i meant to get to more relaxing and tv and less work, but it just didn’t happen.

so now i’m tired and ready for bed, so i guess i should be off.  g’night. ;)

it smells like a man’s chest

“it’s sunday morning
the coffee’s on
that gray cat’s still yawning
‘cause saturday is gone
and i still feel the feelin’
of how you felt upon me
and it may be no big deal to you
but it’s a very big deal to me” — lyle lovett “no big deal”

yeah. marina really said that. about air freshener. and you know… she had a funny way of saying it, but it does smell exactly like men’s deodorant. :) where i work is fun!

and the other moments of my day also went well. :) i got a good night’s sleep again last night. amazing! and then i was off to work on time today. so basically, i win. ;) and i spent the day at work designing our company’s holiday card, which went pretty well. i’m not 100% done yet, but i’m pleased so far. and i spent plenty of time talking to marke (who was absent yesterday because he’s sicky) from about 10 feet outside his office door. i don’t want whatever he has. anyway, it was a good day at the office.

and then i came home, wrapped some stuff for bobby, and relaxed on the couch. i need another restful night to keep getting better. so it’s been basketball, “brothers and sisters” (how much did i love the senator getting lyle lovett to perform for him and kitty at the hollywood bowl?!?), and “beauty and the geek.” nice. :)

and so i guess i’m off for tonight. g’night.

p.s. new blog layout. i like it. do you? :)

you’d be good at this

“i may never sail virginia again
and as this current moves slow for me
this much you must know of me again
and i’ll have you know i’m scared to death
tell me once again
that you’ll love me to the death
and should i die, you swear that you will come for me
as i fade away, you reach out your hand
and please don’t let me go” — mayday parade “you be the anchor that keeps my feet on the ground, i’ll be the wings that keep your heart in the clouds”

well, it was a pretty normal tuesday, really.  pretty good, but i’m feeling pretty exhausted right now.

i got to bed pretty early last night (and i plan to do the same tonight) and got some good rest.  i can’t remember waking up at all last night, which pretty much never happens to me these days.  anyway, i got up with the alarm but would have preferred sleeping a few more hours. :)  anyway, i headed off to work, picking up an awesome breakfast of jamba juice and a bagel on the way.  mmm… so good!

anyway, work went fine today.  nothing too crazy.  i got some stuff done, and even managed to help john with a proposal he’s working on.  so yeah, went fine.

after work, i meant to go to the gym but i’m feeling not so great.  besides the tired (i’m working on recovering from that one), i have a throat thing.  so i figured i’d give my body one more day of rest.  and so i spent a relaxing evening getting a little work done for bobby, watching some tv, and enjoying dinner.  nothing crazy.  and soon… bed.

hope you’re well.  g’night. ;)

“and honestly i have been begging for answers
that you and only you can give to me
a voice crying loud
i’ve been crying for days now
and as i start to run, i stop to breathe
and i was nearly scared to death
why you left in paragraphs
the words were nearly over us
you stop and turn and grab your bags
and i’ll be here by the ocean
just waiting for proof that there’s sunsets and silhouette dreams
all my sand castles fall like the ashes of cigarettes
and every wave drags me to sea
i could stand here for hours
gust to ask God the question, ‘is everyone here make-believe?’
with a tear in His voice, He said, “son, that’s the question”
does this deafening silence mean nothing to no one but me?” — mayday parade “you be the anchor that keeps my feet on the ground, i’ll be the wings that keep your heart in the clouds”

well, thanksgiving weekend is officially over, and i’m back home (another of my homes, anyway) in laguna after a great weekend at home (my first home, san carlos).  i could have used a bit more relaxing, but that’s okay.  it was good fun all the way around. :)

yesterday (sunday) was so much fun!  i had lunch in redwood city with meg at a weird place, and we did a little shoe shopping, but i think we were both too cold to be out and about wandering.  and i spent the afternoon relaxing a little bit and packing and getting myself all cute and set to go out again.

last night, mom, dad, meg, auntie lily, uncle ken, and i headed down to san jose for the “so you think you can dance” tour at hp pavilion.  i’d been looking forward to the show for a very long time, so it was exciting that it finally came!  anyway, we started the evening by having dinner at gordon biersch, which was delicious.  and then we headed over to the arena.  we were there early enough that i could (turn into a 7-year-old girl and) get myself a fun neil t-shirt and a program.  :)  and then it was showtime!  and hmm… what can i even say to explain how much i loved it?  i’m not sure.  it was so excellent, though!  the dancers are even more impressive in person, there were tons and tons of numbers, which meant a great variety of highlights from the tv show and a few new pieces.  i got to see some of my personal favorites, including hok and jamie doing the hummingbird and flower; neil and danny doing the two princes; and neil and sabra doing the table dance.  incredible!  and i just thought it was so excellent and enjoyed every single minute of it!  they’re just amazing!  oh… and neil continues to be so hott, in case you were wondering. ;)

and then the weekend ended abruptly this morning at 4am when mom woke me up.  i had to be at the airport in san jose at 5 to catch my 7am flight (last year the airport was insane the monday morning after thanksgiving).  so i got my stuff together and we headed out.  and i caught my flight and made it here fine, if also really tired.  and i spent the day at work tending to little things and being just a little bit out of it.  and i did a little grocery shopping at trader joe’s on my way home.

and tonight, i’m just hanging out.  i’ll watch a little bit more tv before crashing hard.  hope you also had a wonderful thanksgiving holiday.  g’night. ;)

i’ll take two

“if i had it all to do over
i’m sure i’d win and lose just as much
but spend a lot less time on right and wrong
and a lot more time on love” — gary allan “half of my mistakes”

well, it was a family day today.  dad, adam, and i got up (relatively) early this morning so we could head up to san francisco to the annual auto show.  we do that pretty much every thanksgiving weekend, after all.  it’s fun to sit in all the new cars without anyone trying to sell you anything!  and it’s much easier to wander around one convention center than tons of dealerships.  anyway, we went up there.  it was a decent show, but there weren’t really many exciting concepts or anything.  for the first time, the la auto show is also going on during thanksgiving weekend and kind of has all the rad stuff.  anyway, it was still fun to sit in lots of cars, and i picked out a few for myself.  my favorite of all is the volvo c70 hardtop convertible.  that’s for sure what i want!  and after wandering the whole show, we had a good lunch at chevy’s. :)

we spent the afternoon watching some college football and napping.  and then the whole family went out for a little bit.  we went to rei (1) so mom could look at some shoes she liked and (2) so i could try to find something there to spend my giftcard on.  i ended up with a really nice north face jacket that was deeply discounted.  sweet!  and we wandered best buy for a bit, as well.  and then we picked up a delicious dinner at toto’s.  mmm… i love that place! :)

and now we’re just hanging out.  i need to get a little sleep now, though.  g’night. ;)

“let your memory soak me to the bone
reminds me that i’m not alone in yesterday’s rain
it’s just yesterday’s rain
that’s just yesterday’s pain
think i’ll walk in yesterday’s rain” — gary allan “yesterday’s rain”

well, it was a good day, though i’m ready to crash now.  and i’m planning on getting up relatively early tomorrow, too.  so i hope you had a good black friday.  i did. :)

i got up this morning (not too early, considering they opened at 6) to do a little shopping with mom at target.  mostly, i picked out somethings for me and for dad that mom can wrap up for us for christmas.  and we did costco, too. :)  dvds and cds.  love it!  and we stopped for breakfast on the way home.

i hung out around the house with dad for a while.  i even napped on the couch for a bit.  delightful!  and then it was time to get myself all ready and cute to go out with the girls tonight.

nao, mel, meg, kath, annahita, and i headed up to san francisco for the evening.  i knew going into union square (the heart of all shopping in s.f.) on black friday was going to be a little crazy, but it actually wasn’t bad at all getting there and parked and everything.  we had dinner at zingari, which was pretty good.  i mean, the food was good but probably a little overpriced.  that’s what you get right in union square, i suppose.  anyway, we had a nice dinner together.

and then we all went to see the reduced shakespeare company perform “completely hollywood,” which was their telling of 175 movies in 100 minutes.  so funny!  probably not my favorite of their shows (i’ve seen three others before), but it was stilly really good.  also!  all 5 other girls got pulled up on stage as extras in a scene!  so funny!  the photos i snuck (no photos allowed in the theatre) of them are up with the others from the evening on my flickr.  that was really cool.  i’m glad i was the first person to walk into our row from our group.  that’s the only way i didn’t get pulled up on stage. :)  anyway, it was a wonderful evening out in the city with everyone!  it’s great to get to see all of them.

and now i’m just getting ready for bed.  the s.f. auto show in on the plan for tomorrow.  not sure what else.

did you buy me lovely things on black friday? haha!  g’night. ;)

“well, i’ve been told i shouldn’t stand in your rain
that’s the only place i see your face
i can see your face” — gary allan “yesterday’s rain”

happy thanksgiving. :)  it was a good, rowdy one here, and i must say i did really enjoy it.  even if i never did get the nap i had planned on.

i was up pretty early so i could have time to get myself ready and then help mom with the final preparations.  and the family started arriving around 11:30.  and we started out on the wii right away!  pretty much everyone played at one point or another, with bowling and boxing being the favorites, it seemed.  anyway, we eventually all had a huge lunch.  i don’t do holiday food particularly well, so i ended up with the interesting combination of lasagna, mashed potatoes, and rice.  yep.  oh, and rice was totally my contribution to the meal.  i made it! :)  anyway, lunch was good and there was more wii afterwards.  and then grandma started up her blackjack game.  and she was singing traditional filipino and american songs.  loudly.  very loudly.  it was pretty hilarious!  and then there was more wii and just hanging out with the whole family.  it was just simple and nice and relaxing.  the photos from my camera are already up on flickr for you.

and then tonight, dad, adam, mom, and i just hung out around the house.  we watched some college basketball, too.  and that’s really about it!

time for bed now.  hope you had a lovely thanksgiving.  g’night. ;)

spinning

“sometimes i think about the touch of your skin
the taste of your lips and it all comes rushing back again
and i start to spin
i think about you when the skies turn grey
always reminds me of the love we made
back when you were here
well, here come the tears” — gary allan “yesterday’s rain”

okay, so i really did mean to post last night, but all of a sudden i discovered it was really late and i wanted to crash. and tonight… well… it’s extremely late tonight (technically, very early this morning now). but it’s thanksgiving, and even if i have to get up earlier than i might like tomorrow, i’m pretty much guaranteed a nap. :) so i guess i’ll take a few minutes to write. life seems good, so i want to share a bit.

yesterday was spent partly at work, where i got a ton of stuff done and all before 4. so i might have wrapped up a few loose ends and bailed about 30 minutes early. i headed for a good workout at the gym, and then i went home. i did 4 loads of laundry (hit a little snag, but it turned out okay). i caught some basketball on tv. i did some work for bobby. i packed (and i promise you that picking out 6 days’ outfits is no easy chore for me, especially when i’m trying to coordinate everything around a bright red handbag). i caught up on a little bit more tv. and i chatted with some friends. i was very busy all the way until bedtime, but it was good fun. :)

today was kind of spent at work… i suppose… but not really. i was there until about noon, and part of that time include marke, chris, and me watching “the santa clause.” but i did actually take care of a couple little things that needed to get done before thanksgiving, so i was good, too. :) oh! and it was a lovely, sunny day, which meant i got to wear a cute dress! anyway, next stop was the gym for my workout before heading home. i cleaned up, finished packing, and found some lunch. and by about 5, i was off again.

i was headed to the airport, but first i had a very important stop to make. i went to sprinkles and picked up 4 cupcakes to bring home to the family with me! so fun! i got two of my fave (peanut butter chocolate chip), one ginger maple, and one pumpkin. i wanted to try the fall flavors. :) anyway, then i was off to the airport to catch my late flight home. the whole trip was really, really uneventful, really. dad met me at the airport in san jose (while mom picked up adam in san francisco), and we ran into the bertram family at baggage claim. that was cool! it’s good to see all of them, especially around the holidays. that’s a good time to see people you’ve known for 20 years, right?

and now i’m just hanging out. mom, dad, and i tried the fall cupcakes (delicious, of course!), and adam and i watched tonight’s “project runway” (i agreed with the winner totally). and i played my first wii. okay, i actually have no idea whose wii it is. i think my cousin’s. but it was brand new and it was our chore to set it up for video game fun tomorrow during our thanksgiving celebration. so anyway, we set it up and i beat adam at bowling. :)

and i really do need to go to bed now. happy thanksgiving. g’night. ;)

“i’m just trying to understand
it’s all in someone else’s hands
there’s always been a bigger plan
but i don’t need to understand
i’m still learning how to bend
how to let you in
in a world full of tears
we’ll conquer all our fears
i’m still learning how to fly
i wanna take you higher
i’ll be there ’til the end
i’ll be your lover and your friend
i’m still learning how to bend” — gary allan “learning how to bend”

oh, monday.  i was tired, but i made it through, got some work done, and had some fun. :)

work was uneventful today.  i got some stuff done but didn’t push it too hard.  by about 3:30, i was totally over today and just survived until 5.  oh, and i lunched with brian and chris at scpc.   anyway, it was a pretty good time there.

after work, i headed for the gym, where i had a really good, tough workout.  the first in a few days.  felt good.  and then i came home, had some dinner, and caught a little basketball from the maui invitational.  i wish i was there again this year.  it was so much fun!  but anyway, the basketball was good.  and meg called (i can’t even remember her random question anymore) and we ended up chatting away for like an hour!  it was really good to talk to her about just whatever.  i’m anxious to see her (and several other friends) this weekend!  and then i talked to the parents for a little bit.  and now i’m watching tonight’s “how i met your mother” before i crash.

hope you had a good monday.  g’night. ;)
