i’m still getting used to twenty-three. not sure yet if it feels different at all. but so far so good because i had a lovely tuesday. :)

i slept better last night than the night before, but i definitely didn’t sleep well. i think it’s a combination of me just not sleeping well and it being quite hot. those two factors add up to be being tired and perhaps a little bit cranky. ;) no, i’m not actually cranky at all. but i am feeling pretty tired, and i’m not sure how it’s already so late and i’m still not in bed. anyway, i’m getting off track and rambling, likely because i am writing whatever pops into my head. it’s my journal and i’ll do what i want. ;) okay, so i didn’t sleep that well but i got up with the alarm anyway, just like always. i hopped into the shower, but this morning i got to listen to a little joe nichols as i tried out my new shower cd player. it’s nice to have a little showering music. :) so i got clean and ready and all that. and then i had a little breakfast and checked email. and then i had a hard time deciding what to wear, but eventually ended up in a tank, jeans, and a cardigan. boring but sufficient.

i headed off to work this morning knowing that i would likely be plenty busy all day long, which is fine. it makes the day go much faster when i have lots of things that need to get done. so right away i found myself working on more product figures. and then i needed to place all of those into my section. that was what i had left myself at the end of yesterday to get done this morning. and i did take care of that. so that left jenna to place all the ads into the magazine, though that didn’t get finished up until pretty late into the day, which meant that as soon as i got my section back to make all those changes, i really had to work very quickly. i ended up having a huge section of the magazine, which is great if you ask me. :) but it meant i had lots of changes and adjustments and ads to place in like an hour’s time. but i got it done just before 5! so i win! :) oh, and there was a break somewhere in my day for lunch with jan and marke at super bowl, which was definitely delicious! :)

so at 5, i packed up and headed straight home. i needed to be at the apartment office before 6 to pick up a couple packages and put some money on my laundry card. two dollars just wasn’t going to cut it. ;) so i got the bonus disc that goes with the second season of “laguna beach,” (not sure why those didn’t ship together, but whatever) and a sweatshirt mom got me from her and adam’s trip to minneapolis for junior olympics. cool. :) and then i came up to the apartment and discovered a huge box on my doorstep. it was a birthday present from katie. i knew because she mentioned it yesterday and her presents always seem to come in enormous boxes. :) she sent way more than i ever expected, all of it wonderful! a really cool platter (i’m not sure how to describe it but it’s really nice and totally matches my style), a gorgeous birdhouse that (for now, at least) will look wonderful sitting in my bedroom, which it matches perfectly, and a little herb garden that’s so perfect because i’ve been wanting to grow my own basil forever. she’s good! :)

but i after i finished opening up the beautiful gifts, it was time for me to change my clothes and head back down to the beach for a walk. it continues to be quite hot and humid here, but i was alright out on the ocean. my walk went really well, just like yesterday’s, so i am pleased with myself. and the surf was looking really nice today, so there were lots of surfers out for me to watch while walking. :) perfect!

then i came home and got cleaned up. i had a little dinner, but then i was ready to get on with what i really had planned for my evening. so i know i’ve mentioned in the past week and a half or so that i have been trying to get this apartment clean. well i was failing miserably. it just kept getting worse. so tonight i did it all. everything’s in its place. all of it. even the clothes, which is what i generally avoid. and the shoes. i even took out the (3 bags of) trash. so the apartment now finally looks great and i feel like i can breathe and relax again. so i win! ;)

then i talked to the family for a while. they took a tour at stanford today, so dad’s topic of choice tonight was adam’s college search, which is fine. and adam was chatty, which means he was super bored. i even got him watching anderson cooper on cnn for a bit. that’s crazy! ;) and as i started to write this, i got temporarily distracted by troy online. i discovered his food pickiness, which i find so excellent because i like knowing i’m not the only one who’s “discerning.” :) and i’ve been watching dierks bentley at summerfest on cmt, too, which is fun. he’s a great performer, even on tv. :)

but i really should get moving. my bed calls. i’ll be back next time with more. g’night. ;)
